B. Mayes Marks, Jr. has represented injured and disabled individuals for 25 years.  Mr. Marks' success has been applauded by both his clients and the legal community, having been bestowed numerous awards and honors.

Mr. Marks earned his undergraduate degree from the College of William & Mary and his Juris Doctorate Degree from Marshall-Wythe School of Law at the College of William & Mary in 1985. 

Mr. Marks joined the Firm of Marks & Harrison (formerly Marks, Stokes & Harrison) in 1985.  Specializing in workers' compensation, personal injury, and Social Security Disability Claims, Mr. Marks opened his own firm in 1994. 

Mr. Marks has continued to limit his practice to representing individuals injured in automobile accidents and on-the-job accidents, as well as assisting individuals pursuing disability benefits before the Social Security Administration.

Mr. Marks is a member of multiple legal organizations, including
the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association (formerly on the Board of Governors; presently on the Workers' Compensation Subcommittee and the Social Security Disability Subcommittee), the American Association of Justice, and NOSSCR (National Organization of Social Security Claimants' Representatives).  He is also a member of the Hopewell and Virginia Bar Associations.

Mr. Marks is a frequent lecturer on legal topics in his concentrated areas of practice.

Mr. Marks is active in the community, serving on the United Way of Hopewell/Prince George Board of Directors (formerly President and Chairman) and former President and Board Member of the Hopewell Humane Society. 

Mr. Marks has coached athletic teams in numerous sports (basketball, baseball, soccer, and football).  Mr. Marks also sponsors a basketball league in Hopewell for 10-13 years old boys, serving as a coach in the league for more than 20 years.  He presently serves as the head basketball coach for JEJ Moore Middle School in Prince George County.

 

Mr. Marks is married to Susan Atwater Marks and has three sons, Bryant, Neil, and Carter.
